Actor. Improviser. Filmmaker.

Jiaxin Zheng is a silly cat

About

Jiaxin Zheng is an actor, filmmaker, and improviser. Meisner-trained and deeply intuitive, she leads with listening.

On screen, Jiaxin has appeared in short films including Perfect Match, Roll of the Die, and I AM. She also recently directed and starred in Couch Ghosts and the music video Bi-Weekly Lady.

On stage, she has appeared in Distanced Dates at Playground’s Free Play Festival and the Vagina Monologues. She has deepened her range and spontaneity through improv — directing her troupe the Heartbreakers, and performing at Playground’s Inaugural Comedy Festival, Made Up Theatre, and Provocation Theatre. She is an incoming fellow at Oakland Theatre Project, where she will appear in King Lear.

A former Microsoft employee and University of Michigan alumna, Jiaxin has spent her career — on screen, on stage, and in tech — chasing one question: what does the world look like through someone else’s eyes? She finds magic in the mundane, and her dog Lola on most East Bay trails.
